Mnquma Local Municipality officially announced the construction of a tarred roads project for Butterworth and surrounding townships. The launch of Mnquma Township roads project took place on 15 January 2016 at Vuli Valley Township.

Eagle Ukhozi Civils and Lumko Mkhonza Consulting Engineers have been appointed to resurface the Mnquma township roads. This construction of the roads network project costs around R18 million and it is a three year project. It will create jobs for unemployed Mnquma residents. The project will bring relief to thousands of township residents who for many years have relied on dusty gravel roads that get damaged during heavy rainfalls.

This project demonstrates the rural - based Mnquma Local Municipality’s commitment towards social transformation and improving the lives of South Africans in line with the national agenda of service delivery roll out.
